eLearning at KKU

Aligning with international standards and sector leading players practices, eLearning in KKU was approved at three levels:

Level Description Deployment
Supportive No change on classroom attendance.
Courses are facilitated through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools like discussion boards.
 
Mandatory for all courses without exceptions.
Courses should include at least the following elements:
- Syllabus and instructor information.
- Courses content (lecture notes, documents, recordings, etc.). Covoerting 100% of the material is not necessary.
- Announcements board.
- Discussions forums
- Assignments section.
 
Blended Students' attendance is both in class and online according to the percentage specified by the college and the course instructor.
Courses are offered through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools like discussion boards.
 
Not mandatory. Should be requested by the instructor with the approval of the college.
To teach a blended course, the course instructor should apply to the eLearning deanship using the "Blended course application form" signed by him/her, the department head, and the dean. The application should be submitted before the semester in which the course will be taught in commences.
Courses must include at least the following elements:

- Courses content (lecture notes, documents, recordings, etc.).
- Announcements board.
- Discussions forums
- Assignments section.

 

Full Attendance and activities are online except for exams and orientation lectures.
Courses are offered through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools, covering all course materials and aspects.
 
Limited, in coordination between the college offering the course and the eLearning deanship.

 

The web facilitated level in which course delivery is supported by the Learning Management System and other eLearning tools up to 30%, will be mandatory for all courses, and its deployment is already started the second semester of the academic year 1429 - 1430. The other two levels for applying eLearning, the blended and the full, have a different approach and regulations that will be communicated to all stakeholders.

Every faculty member is invited to use the eLearning tools in his/her courses, and the eLearning center will provide the required support and training.
